TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
Zeddky Studio · Melbourne, Victoria
YOUR TATTOO HAS JUST BEEN COMPLETED — HERE IS HOW TO LOOK AFTER IT.
Your tattoo is an open wound. How you care for it in the next 2–4 weeks directly affects how well it heals and how good it looks long-term. Please read all of this.
THE FIRST 24 HOURS
- Leave your initial wrap (cling film or second-skin bandage) on for the time your artist advised — usually 2–4 hours for cling film, or up to 3 days for a second-skin/Saniderm-style bandage.
- When removing cling film: wash hands first, then gently peel away. Do not rip.
- Wash the tattoo immediately after removing the wrap using lukewarm water and a fragrance-free liquid soap (e.g. Cetaphil, QV Gentle). Use your clean fingertips only — no washcloths or sponges.
- Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel. Do not rub.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturiser (see recommendations below). Less is more — a shiny film is too much.
- Re-wrap loosely with cling film if sleeping on the first night to avoid sticking to sheets.
DAYS 2–14 — THE HEALING PHASE
Repeat this routine 2–3 times per day:
- Wash gently with fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturiser
